Pride Football Australia aims to bring together football players and supporters, regardless of their gender or sexuality, to share their love of the game and promote equality, acceptance and diversity.
Pride Football Australia was born out of Australia’s first LGBTQIA+ football tournament held in 2009. The Pride Football Australia Tournament has grown over the years to become the marquee annual LGBTQIA+ football event for players and supporters.
In 2012, Pride Football Australia was created as a standalone, non-profit organisation.
At FFA we believe it is the right of every player, coach, volunteer and fan to feel accepted, on and off the sporting field, regardless of their sexuality
David Gallop, Football Federation Australia
We work tirelessly to be a leading advocate in the broader community on issues relevant to, or affecting, the LGBTQIA+ and sports community.
Our mission is to promote participation in football within the Australian LGBTQIA+ community and engage with campaigns for the proper promotion of equality in sport and the wider community, in particular the inclusion and acceptance of LGBTQIA+ identifying people.
We seek to deliver on our mission through our engagement with various activities and campaigns that raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues, including the annual Pride Football Australia Tournament.
We embrace and uphold the following PRIDE values in all aspects of our work:
Partnership - We interact positively and professionally with all individuals and community partners.
Respect - We are considerate of, and believe in, the abilities, qualities, and achievements of others.
Impact - We seek to promote and foster a positive change for the visibility, health and well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Diversity - We appreciate and celebrate the differences of others.
Equality - We strive to create an environment of equity, inclusion and opportunity for all.
